Dear Medomak family campers and retreat participants,
We wanted to connect with our community and update them on our plans for next summer. 2020 has certainly been a trying year for everyone, and it is our sincerest hope that the public health picture will be substantially improved by summer to the point that we can operate again in a safe manner for our campers and our staff. Certainly, recent developments around availability of testing and vaccine development are giving us cause for optimism.
For instance, affordable and available, point of care testing may allow us to comfortably open our doors, but will still require a program that assumes transmission of the virus is still a risk. On the other hand, a widely distributed and effective vaccine may allow us to relax some of our planned mitigation measures that are currently assuming the public health picture we are seeing right now. And of course, we must also plan for the possibility that things might not get substantially better, or may even get worse. We can say that over the past few months, and with the input of our family campers and retreat participants, we have come to a place where we can begin to envision a plan/plans that work, and we are working diligently to be able to implement them by the time our cherished summer arrives.
We also want to note that we recognize the vacation planning realities of our families & individuals, as well as our need to keep up with the realities of our business cycle. And so, it is our goal to have a plan for operations in place that can be announced to you around the new year. In the meantime, if you have any questions, or would like to offer input, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
With the year coming to an end and the holidays approaching, we want to take this moment to thank you for remaining engaged with our community. Camp means so much to so many people, and the loss of our experiences together was a hard one to endure. We choose to count our blessings, though and staying connected with many of you these past few months has been one of them. We wish you all a wonderful holiday season and look forward to a safe summer 2021, hopefully, replete with big joyous hugs.
